2025-26 NCAA DI Wrestling Rankings
157 - Brandon Cannon
We felt a reordering of the top 8 was needed after the results over the last 2 weeks (and the entire season). Watters overtook the #1 spot after week 3 based on an early-season win over Daniel Cardenas and Antrell Taylor losing to Logan Rozynski and Brandon Cannon. However, now that win over Cardenas is shared by PJ Duke, Vinny Zerban, Landon Robideau, and Meyer Shapiro. On top of that, Watters didn’t wrestle last week against Robideau when West Virginia dualed Oklahoma State. Because of those two factors, we didn’t feel Watters had the resume to retain his number 1 ranking.
We felt Brandon Cannon’s overall resume was the best of this group on the year with wins over Antrell Taylor and Jackson Arrington. On top of that, Cannon has wrestled his complete schedule and has a 100% bonus rate against college competition.
Similar to Cannon, PJ Duke is 9-0 on the year, and his recent win over Daniel Cardenas gives him the same “best win” as Ty Watters. That win, combined with a win over Logan Rozynski (who beat Antrell Taylor), gives Duke the strength to rise to #3 above Antrell Taylor.
Defending national champion Antrell Taylor had a rough National Duals, losing to Rozynski and Cannon, but responded with a win over Landon Robideau on Sunday. With that win, Taylor rises to #4 but is kept from entering the top 3 because of the early-season losses.
We chose to keep Landon Robideau above Meyer Shapiro for a few reasons. First, Shapiro missed the first 7 weeks of the season and didn’t wrestle until this weekend. Robideau has been one of the most active wrestlers in the top 8, boasting wins over Daniel Cardenas and Jackson Arrington. It’s worth noting that Shapiro is 1-2 in his career against Cardenas, 0-1 against Antrell Taylor, and 2-0 against Zerban. Shapiro has also never wrestled Cannon, Watters, Duke, or Robideau in college. Because of those factors, we felt Shapiro fit perfectly at #6.
