2024-25 National Girls High School Team Rankings
The committee that selects the National Girls High School Rankings for individual athletes, which includes representation from USA Wrestling, FloWrestling and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum, kicks off the 2024-25 season with its Preseason team ranking.
This ranking includes public and private schools at the high school level from all states, including states with official girls state championship events as well as those with unofficial girls state championships.
For the early season rankings, the committee selected the Top 40 high school teams in the nation and added 35 teams with honorable mention.
Wyoming Seminary, the top team at the end the 2023-24 season, remains in the #1 position for the start of the 2024-25 season. The winner of the 2024 Prep National Championships has 10 nationally ranked individuals in its program.
Starting off at #2 is Olentangy Orange (Ohio), the 2024 Ohio state champion, which has three nationally ranked athletes and a strong, experienced line-up. Coming in at #3 is Cleveland (Tenn.), the 2024 Tennessee state champion, with a pair of nationally ranked wrestlers. At #4 is traditional power Toppenish (Wash.), the 2024 Washington 1B/2B/1A/2A state champion and last year’s #2-ranked program. Next at #5 is Bixby (Okla.), the 2024 Oklahoma 6A state champions, which boasts four nationally ranked wrestlers.
Rounding out the top 10 teams are #6 Edmond North (Okla.), #7 SLAM Academy (Nev.), #8 Conroe Woodlands College Park (Texas), #9 Moanalua (Hawaii) and #10 John H Pitman (Calif.).
There are 36 states represented in this national preseason ranking. California has the most ranked teams with six. Oklahoma has five ranked teams. States with four ranked teams include Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Iowa.
The committee will have three more team rankings this season, in early January, February and the final rankings in March. By the end of the season, the committee will rank the top 50 programs and expand honorable mention to 50 more programs.
In order to grow this program, we need more input from coaches, parents, administrators, journalists and fans to have the strongest and most accurate rankings possible. If you believe your team should be ranked, please provide information to the committee right away.
If there is a team that should be considered for a national ranking and is not on this list, send us the following information.
1) Contact information for the head coach of the girls team (email and cell phone)
2) The team’s projected starting lineup, with result information on the expected starters and their year in
school (senior, junior, sophomore, freshman, etc.)
3) The team’s schedule for the 2024-25 year
4) Any other supporting data which can assist in the evaluation process
5) A list of the best in-season girls high school wrestling tournaments in your area
6) Other teams from your state/region that should be considered for a national ranking
Please send all information via email to girlsrankings@usawrestling.org
The long-term goal of the committee and others involved is to strengthen the existing multi-state competitions and develop more large multi-state competitions during the season, where nationally ranked teams and other strong programs can come together to challenge each other. This will also help to better promote the best teams and best athletes in the nation.
The next National Girls High School individual rankings will be published in early January.
