Nebraska High School Wrestling Mini Boards

Class of 2026

This crop of sophomores-to-be is led by Wilber-Clatonia's Zaiyahn Ornelas. He went 43-0 last year in winning the 106-pound Class C title as a freshman. Ornelas not only registered multiple big wins throughout the season, he also just placed third at the U15 US Open in freestyle while placing fourth in Greco-Roman. Ornelas lost early in freestyle before winning six matches in a row to finish third.

Kiernan Meink won a state title for Millard South at 106 as a freshman and looks like a future star, while Tyler Harrill won a title for Omaha Skutt at 145. Another Skutt guy, Riley Johnson also won state gold as a freshman -- at 160. Hayden Schmit lost to Ornelas in the state final but was an impressive freshman nonetheless.

Mason Petersen battled an injury and a move in weight class but still finished third at 138 pounds in Class A -- he's talented and will certainly contend. For Broken Bow, Colton Kelley and Cash Watson both placed in the Top-4 at state. Devin Nuttelman of Cross County/Osceola finished fourth in a loaded 106-pound weight class in Class C, while Cole Karlin took fourth in Class B with a 40-6 record.
