2023-24 NCAA DI Rankings
125 - Luke Stanich
Luke Stanich takes over the #1 spot after Matt Ramos defeated former #1 Drake Ayala last week. Stanich is currently 10-1 on the year with ranked wins over #8 Eric Barnett, #9 Cooper Flynn, #15 Brett Ungar, #28 Eli Griffin, #26 Diego Sotelo, and #23 Colton Camacho. Beyond that, Stanich's only loss on the year was to #11 Troy Spratley.
While Matt Ramos has ranked wins this year over #6 Drake Ayala, #20 Dean Peterson, #31 Anthony Molton, #18 Tanner Jordan, #26 Diego Sotelo, #33 Ethan Berginc, and #12 Anthony Noto, Ramos' losses to #23 Jakob Camacho, #10 Caleb Smith, #16 Nico Provo, and Marcus Blaze are enough to keep him out of the #1 spot.
Braeden Davis comes in at #3 after defeating All-American #17 Michael DeAugustino. On top of that, Davis also has ranked wins on the year over #5 Brandon Kaylor and #33 Ethan Berginc. Davis is the only wrestler in the country who is undefeated at 125 right now but only 3 ranked wins aren't enough to move him above Matt Ramos and Luke Stanich. However, if Davis remains undefeated over the next few weeks in his Big 10 schedule, we can expect him to take over the #1 spot as he accumulates more ranked wins.
Also, it's worth noting Brandon Kaylor's rise in the rankings. He does have losses on the year to Spencer Moore and Jett Strickenberger from the first weekend of the season. However, the distance from those losses and his wins over #7 Jore Volk, #6 Drake Ayala, #18 Tanner Jordan, and #11 Troy Spratley since then are enough to allow him to make a big jump in the rankings.
Caleb Smith drops 5 spots after losing to Patrick McKee but is kept at the #10 spot for his wins on the year over Brandon Kaylor, Matt Ramos, Troy Spratley, and Tanner Jordan.
Patrick McKee comes up a few spots to #14 but doesn't rise higher because of his loss this year against #18 Tanner Jordan.
Max Gallagher re-enters the rankings at #29 after defeating Nico Provo. Gallagher stays behind #28 Eli Griffin who defeated him earlier this season. Provo drops to #16 after suffering the loss.
