Originally from Willingboro, New Jersey, James Green attended Willingboro High School and became the first wrestler in school history to win a state title following a perfect 29-0 season. Green would go on to wrestle for the Nebraska Corn Huskers and become a four time All-American. Green finished seventh at the NCAA championships his first two trips before taking third as a junior. Green was also a Big Ten Champion as a junior.

    The University of Nebraska announced on Thursday that James Green has been named a full-time assistant wrestling coach for the 2023-24 season. Green had an accomplished career as an athlete for Nebraska earning four All-American honors placing 7th twice and 3rd twice. After he graduated from Nebraska in 2015, he went on to make 6 straight world teams earning a bronze medal in 2015 and a silver medal at the 2017 world championships. Green most recently served as the Developmental Coach for USA Wrestling in Colorado Springs but in June announced his intentions to come out of retirement and return to the Nebraska Wrestling Training Center as a senior-level athlete.
