DISTRICT A-4 WRESTLING TOURNAMENT NORFOLK HIGH SCHOOL SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2023 Time: 9:00 am Teams: Creighton Prep, Lincoln Northeast, Lincoln Southeast, Norfolk, Omaha Bryan, Omaha Central, Omaha Northwest, Papillion-LaVista. Tournament Director: John Erwin Track Wrestling Administrator: Mike Dittmer Officials: TBD (Assigned by NSAA) Entries/Rosters: Pre-registration emails will be sent via track wrestling to each school prior to the event. Please have rosters entered by 10:00 p.m. on Monday, February, 6, 2023. Team Entrance: Please drop athletes off on the back side of the high school at door #16. There will be someone at the door to meet you when you arrive and escort you to your spot in the bleachers and locker room. Bus Parking: Buses should park on the west side of the school in the north parking lot closest to tennis courts toward the back of the lot. Spectator Entrances: Spectators may enter through door #16 (West side) or door #13 (South side) of school. Spectators may park in the south lot or the west lot. Locker Rooms: Locker rooms will be assigned. Valuables: Each team will be responsible for their own valuables. Tournament Apparel: District T-shirts will be sold in the main lobby. To all coaches and contestants: Norfolk High School welcomes you to Norfolk for the District A-4 Wrestling Tournament. We are looking forward to friendly but intense competition. We hope this meet will be a positive experience. Spectators will not be allowed to bring in coolers. Printed brackets will be available in the concessions stand for $1. Admission: Multi-Session (All Day) $9.00 Adults and $7.00 Students Finals only $6.00 Adults and $5.00 Students Passes: The host school shall furnish seventeen passes to each participating school which enters a full team of fourteen wrestlers. If a school enters fewer than fourteen wrestlers, the team passes shall be reduced proportionally by that number. These passes shall grant admission to that tournament only. In addition to the seventeen passes for the team and coaches, extra passes for administrators and school personnel may be furnished as follows: Class A - 6; Class B - 6; Class C - 4; Class D - 4; Girls - 4. Athletic Trainer: A certified athletic trainer will be on-site all day. National Anthem: The National Anthem will be played before the start of the morning?s matches. Concessions: Concessions will be available 1 hour prior to the start of the meet. Format: Normal 8- man bracket. 3 mats for quarterfinals, semifinals and 1st round consolation. Break after 1st round consolation matches. 2 mats will be used for consolation semifinals and medal round matches. Seeding Meeting: The seeding meeting will be in the cafeteria at 8:00 a.m. Coffee and rolls will be served. Seeding will be done by District Criteria via Trackwrestling. Head to Head Competition Common Opponents State Champion Highest State Placer Returning State Qualifier Varsity Record Ifn coaches disagree with Trackwrestling Schedule of Events: Except for the first round, all other times are approximate. We will run the tournament continuously with only short breaks as needed. 8:00 a.m. Weigh-Ins in Locker Room 8:00 a.m. Seeding Meeting in Cafeteria 9:00 a.m. Quarterfinals Followed by Semi Finals & 1st Round Consolation Lunch will be provided for coaches, administrators, officials and workers in the cafeteria. (Provided by Norfolk Booster Club) Consolation Semis followed by Finals. AWARDS: Plaques will be presented to the district champion and the district runner-up teams. The top four place winners from each weight class in each district shall be awarded an individual medal and qualify for the 2023 State Wrestling Championships. Individual winners in each weight class will receive a Wall Chart. All place winners are required to dress in school attire with NO HATS on the award stand after wrestling concludes. District Coach of the Year Ballots will be distributed & voted on during the finals. TEAM SCORING: Track wrestling seeding. Live Streaming: We will live stream from the Norfolk YouTube channel: nps activities. Weather: In case of inclement weather, the Tournament Director will notify the schools in the tournament and inform them of the revised schedule.
