Welcome to the 29th Annual Shawano Holiday Classic Wrestling Tournament! We will be using trackwrestling.com to administer the Shawano Holiday Classic Varsity event. You WILL RECEIVE an e-mail about using the website for the tournament. PLEASE HAVE YOUR ANTICIPATED VARSITY LINE-UPS IN BY 10:00am Friday morning, Dec. 19th. For the JV teams, you will turn in your handwritten JV roster Sat. morning. Athletes will be weighed in, info will be given to referees, and then the JV athletes will be bracketed. Please find below the some information about the tournament: A. Time Schedule 1. Weigh-in 8:00-9:00am *Each wrestler will be given one additional pound 2. Coaches/Seeding meeting 9:00am 3. JV Start time- JV will begin as soon as all weight classes/brackets are set. May possibly start as early as 9:30am 4. Varsity start time- Approximately 10:30a.m. We will begin earlier if seeeding meeting is done earlier. B. Varsity Format There will be 5 rounds. A lunch break will be taken after the 3rd round. We will have 6-man, 8-man, 10-man, and 12-man brackets for our tournament. This will depend on the number of wrestlers per weight class. We will be using the scoring provided by track wrestling which will be explained more in the coaches meeting. By having multiple brackets it allows for each wrestler to get in a maximum of 5 matches for the day. The only exception would be the 8-man bracket which results in 4 matches for the day. This will also cut down on the number of Bye`s and wait time for each wrestler in-between rounds. C. Mats- There will be 4 Varsity Mats and 2 JV Mats. We may start out with more JV mats at the beginning of the tournament. This depends on how long the Seeding Meeting last for the Varsity end of the tournament. JV Coaches make sure you are prepared to start prior to the Varsity tournament. D. Admission Charge: $5.00 for Students and Adults. Children under 6 years old get in free. E. Sports Medicine: Athletic trainers will be available on site located in front of the head table. Teams should bring their own medical kits and supplies. F. Concessions & Coaches Hospitality Room: Breakfast and Lunch will be provided for coaches. There will be concessions in the commons for fans and wrestlers. There will be no food or beverages allowed in the gymnasium. Coolers must be kept in the commons. G. Locker Rooms: Locker rooms will be available for all teams participating in the event for changing purposes. Teams must provide their own towels for the bench area and showers. There are limited lockers available. Each wrestler should bring their own carrying bag and are responsible for their belongings. Shawano Community High School is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. H. Awards 1. Varsity Awards: Individual medals will be awarded for first, second, and third place. Team trophies for first and second place, Most Pins Plaque, and MVP Plaque will also be awarded. 2. JV Awards: Medals will be awarded to First and Second place.
