Frank Dobbs Memorial K-5 Wrestling Tournament Sponsored by the Friends of Melrose Competitive and Noncompetitive K-2 Bracket PREREGISTRATION USING TRACKWRESTLING OR SIGN UP AT THE DOOR Date: Friday, January 22, 2016 Place: Melrose-Mindoro High School [Enter at the field house entrance.] Weigh-Ins: 4:30 - 5:30 Wrestling Begins: Immediately After Bracketing (Approx. 6:00) Format: 4-man round robin Divisions: Kindergarten (Non-Competitive) 1st-2nd (Non-Competitive) K-1 / 2nd-3rd / 4th-5th (Competitive) Registration: $12 online registration using Trackwrestling $15 at the door (No card is required) Spectator Fee: Adults $3, Children and Students Free Concessions: Hot food and snacks will be served throughout the tournament. Medical Personnel: The First Responders will be on duty throughout the tournament. Awards: K-2 Non-Competitive (medals for all participants) Competitive Brackets (champion trophy / 2nd , 3rd, 4th medals TOURNAMENT FORMAT Grades K-2 (Noncompetitive) 1) Wrestlers will be organized in a 4-man bracket. If the bracket has four wrestlers, each wrestler will be guaranteed three matches. 2) Each match will consist of three one-minute period. 3) Wrestlers will remain on the same mat for the entire tournament. Grades K-5 (Competitive Brackets) 1) Wrestlers will be bracketed in a 4-man round robin format. 2) Each match will consist of three one-minute periods. 3) Periods will begin according to high school rules. Tie Breaker Procedure Ties will be decided on a 30 second overtime period from the wrestlers? feet; if necessary, two 15 second overtime periods will follow. A final 15 second sudden victory period may be needed as the ultimate tie breaker if no score has been accomplished. No Headlock Rule: Headlocks used as a takedown or as a pinning combination will be treated as a potentially dangerous hold. If a wrestler uses the position on his feet, the match will be stopped then restarted. If a wrestler is in a pinning combination and the maneuver ends up in a headlock position, pin points will be awarded (so long as pinning criteria has been met) and the wrestlers will be restarted from the down position.
