This tournament has featured some of the best High School wrestling in California. The tournament is designed to amplify both individual as well as team performances. Best of luck to the competitors and coaches!!! Greg Varela - GHS Head Coach and Marco Sanchez, PhD - Gilroy High Principal Description This tournament is open to high school wrestlers only. No jr high, middle school or open wrestlers will be allowed. The tournament fee is $350 per team or $50 an individual. Weights: 108, 115, 122, 128, 134, 140, 147, 154, 162, 172, 184, 197, 222, 287 (HWT) - 1 pound allowance on Friday (i.e., 108 will be 109) - 2 pound allowance on Saturday (i.e., 140 will be 110) Weigh ins: start at 7:00am (first come, first served) Scales will be available at 6:30 am to check weight. Coaches Meeting: 8:30 am Wrestling begins at 9:00 am Format: Individual – Double Elimination Awards: -1st, 2nd and 3rd place team trophies. -Medals for the top eight placers. -T-Shirts, Clinch Gear shorts for Champions. -Outstanding wrestler will be given to lower weights and upper weights. Admission: $6.00 for spectators; $3 for kids/students w ASB card/ elderly 65+ on Friday and Saturday sessions; $5 for finals OR $15 for an ALL-sessions pass Free for wrestlers in singlets; 2 coaches passes will be given for each team Teams with more than 8 wrestlers on their roster will receive 2 additional coaches passes (4 total) Stat girls, team trainers, team parents, etc will need to pay general admission fees School’s in Session: This year will be the first year Gilroy High has school IN session during our Midcal tournament. Please pay close attention to posted signs regarding entrance and parking and be respectful of students and faculty while class is in session by remaining within the tournament boundaries. Parking: Please park towards the back of the main parking lot when arriving; it will be closer to the entrance gate (near the football stadium side) Patrons with RVs, school buses or vans, please park at the furthest end toward the tennis courts. -To get to the Gym or Football Stadium, turn left onto Princevalle and turn right into the gate of Gilroy High School Concessions: Concessions will be located in the foyer, between both gyms. Concessions will have a good variety of food such as breakfast burritos, bagels, pastries, “wrestler specials” , hamburgers, hotdogs, nachos, teryaki chicken bowls, fruit bowls, assorted candy, sport bars, beverages, etc. Vendors: T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, hats & other apparel will be sold and Inkblossom.com lanyards & more creations Live Streaming: Midcals will be live streaming throughout the tournament on the following link: http://www.ustream.tv/user/gilroy_wrestling/shows
