Hosted by NikiskiHigh School

The 2012 Peninsula Duals will take place on November 9th&10th with match-up duals on Friday, and a dual tournament to follow on Saturday. The following teams are scheduled to attend:
Kotzebue Homer Kodiak Houston Seward
Voznesenka Nikiski Palmer Kenai Seldovia
Colony 1 Colony 2 Soldotna Bethel
Dillingham Skyview Unalaska West Anchorage
Teams that do not have a full line-up may combine, however, due to ASAA rules, cannot advance during the dual tournament on Saturday, so the team with the majority of wrestlers will count and the other matches will be scored as forfeits. At this time, I do not know how much we can accommodate JV/exhibition matches, but will do our best to have as many as we can. In previous years, we have accommodated quite a few. It is possible to have them during duals as well to fill in for forfeits. We just need to communicate.

The Friday duals will consist of 4 rounds with all teams getting 2 separate duals. Out of the 20 teams that we will have, we will pare that down to 16. Some of the teams will end up combining, which makes it imperative that you communicate with me how large or small your team is. Teams will be in two separate pools and placed in a bracket based on Thursday and Friday results. Mat #5 will be open upstairs for exhibition matches, but please be aware that we will need to have coaches running it.
Fee:
$200 per team or $20 per wrestler for teams of 10 or less. Please have payment ready at the coaches meeting.
Coaches’ Meeting:
The Coaches’ meeting will be at 12:30 PM on Friday, November 9th, in the Teacher’s Lounge (hospitality room).
Lodging:
Dylan Hooper has contacted schools regarding lodging. We’ve been restricted somewhat on what rooms we can use and will have to end up placing people in the gym. We need to know lodging by Friday, November 2th, because of our new policy. If you do not request lodging by then, you will not be able to stay at the school.
Rosters:
Rosters, including JV wrestlers, are due by noon, Tuesday, November 6th. We are planning to use track wrestling for our tournament this year. Look for an email with roster entry info coming your way. There will be an extra mat to run exhibition matches on throughout the tournament.
Meals:
On your way out north, you may want to stop at Safeway or Three Bears in Kenai to pick up food/drinks as many of the places to eat in Nikiski are pizza places. We do have one little grocery store about a quarter mile from the school. At this time, we are planning to have a pancake breakfast, free of charge, after weigh-ins on Saturday morning.
Hospitality Room:
There will be a hospitality room for coaches and officials.
Awards:
There will be a first and second place team trophy, medals for the winning team and an outstanding wrestling award for the tournament as voted on by the coaches. The awards will be given out immediately following the final round on Saturday.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call or email.
