DETAILS: Date: Saturday, December 2, 2006 Weigh-ins: 8:00AM  Weigh-ins are on electronic scale located in the balcony above the locker rooms in the East Wing. The school will be open at 7:00a for teams wishing to arrive early. WARREN HS WILL BE WRESTLING ON FRIDAY NIGHT, SO A 1-POUND ALLOWANCE WILL BE GIVEN! Coaches Mtg.: 8:30 AM  Room W107B (In west wing  look for signs). Lunch will be provided for coaches and officials in this room during the break after the second round. SCHEDULE: Round 1: Wrestling will begin as close to 10am as possible. Round 2: Immediately following the first round BREAK: Approximately 45 minutes; after last wrestled match in round 2. Round 3: Immediately following the break (approximately 2:00PM) Round 4: Immediately following the third round (approximately 3:45PM) Round 5: Immediately following the fourth round (approximately 5:30PM) Awards: Presented during the fifth round for individual awards. Team awards will follow the conclusion of wrestling. MATCH LENGTH: Championship matches will be 6 minutes in length. Consolation matches and wrestling in Pools B, C, and D will be 5 minutes in length (1-2-2). CONCESSIONS: A cash concession stand will be open to serve lunch food and snack items. SEEDING: 1 We are again using TrackWrestling.com to run the Earlybird. This means that team lineup information will be entered online at www.trackwrestling.com. 2 The tournament is seeded in advance. Preliminary line-ups including extras (see below) should be entered online by 8:00PM ON WEDNESDAY, November 29th. The procedure for entering your lineup and extras was emailed to you previously. Contact us if you did not receive this so that we can make arrangements to get it out. Based on this information, we will identify the extras at each weight class based on criteria entered by the coaches. 3 Coaches will be contacted via email by Friday at noon if their extra wrestlers are to be allowed into the tournament. 4 Coaches may make changes to their lineups online until Friday evening at 6:30pm. Seeding will begin at this time. Changes after this point will be limited to scratches and mistakes on our part except in cases of consensus on the part of all coaches. For instructions on how to do this, refer again to the procedure enclosed. If you run into problems, email me at logan@watertown.k12.wi.us. 5 If there are openings at any of the weights, we would like to reserve these open spots for wrestlers from teams that would fill in as unattached wrestlers. If you have a senior or a quality wrestler who cannot make your varsity lineup, please enter him as an extra on your lineup according to the procedure sheet. Locker Room: Beloit Menomonee Falls Verona Warren Boys Varsity Locker Room: Westosha Central Watertown Ozaukee Greendale Teams must bring towels and locks. PLEASE HELP KEEP THE LOCKER ROOMS CLEAN. TOURNAMENT FORMAT: Each wrestler will wrestle five matches. The tournament will have two distinctive parts: 1) A Mini-Tournament of the first two rounds. 2) A Round-Robin Tournament of the last three rounds. Places earned in the mini-tournament will determine which of the four round-robin tournaments wrestlers will compete in. MINI-TOURNAMENT FORMAT: The tournament will have 14 weight classes of 16 wrestlers. Wrestlers will be SEEDED IN ADVANCE. We will determine the top four seeds in each weight and seed them each #1 in one of four mini-tournament brackets. We will repeat this seeding procedure for the next four wrestlers and seed them #2 in each of the mini-tournament brackets. Seeding for #3 and #4 will also follow this format. All forfeits will be drawn into the #4 position. The wrestlers will wrestle two times within this four-man bracket. The brackets for the first two rounds are as follows: Bracket A: Seeds 1 8 9 16 Bracket B: Seeds 2 7 10 15 Bracket C: Seeds 3 6 11 14 Bracket D: Seeds 4 5 12 13 ROUND-ROBIN FORMAT: After the first two rounds, the wrestlers will be regrouped according to wins and losses. Pool A: The four wrestlers that won their first two matches. Pool B: The four wrestlers that won their first match but lost their second. Pool C: The four wrestlers that lost their first match but won their second. Pool D: The four wrestlers that lost their first two matches. The wrestlers will then wrestle three times within this round robin pool. Places and scoring will be done by pool placement. OFFICIALS: Officials will use the office area in the Girls Varsity Locker Room as their locker room. TEAM SCORING: Individuals will score team points in the following manner: Match Winners: Fall, Forfeit, Default 6 Points Technical Fall 5 Points Major Decision 4 Points Decision 3 Points Place Points: Pool A - 1st Place 36 Points Pool A - 2nd Place 28 Points Pool A - 3rd Place 24 Points Pool A - 4th Place 20 Points Pool B - 1st Place 8 Points Pool B - 2nd Place 6 Points Pool C - 1st Place 5 Points Pool C - 2nd Place 4 Points Pool D - 1st Place 2 Points AWARDS: Team: The team champion and the team runner-up will receive plaques Individual: Seven awards will be held in each weight class. Medals will be awarded to all four finishers in Pool A and medals will be awarded to the consolation champion in Pools B, C, and D. A Pinner Award will be awarded in each weight class. An Outstanding Tournament Wrestler Award will be awarded to the wrestler coaches vote and choose. Round Robin placement will be determined based on the following criteria. 1. Most wins 2. Head to Head 3. Most team points (if unattached potential points will be used) 4. Most pins 5. Most technical falls 6. Most major decisions 7. Least Pin Time 8.
