During NC State’s 20-12 dual win over Virginia Tech last Friday night, The College Wrestling Report “X” account (the former Twitter) sent out a tweet that Jakob Camacho scored an upset win over Cooper Flynn at 125 pounds. To which, Wolfpack associate head coach Adam Hall quote tweeted “Don’t call is an upset; call it a comeback.”

After a 3-0 start to ACC dual action, #8 NC State will step out of conference action this weekend with a top-10 dual inside Reynolds Coliseum. The Wolfpack will host #9 Cornell this Friday night in a dual that has 19 of the 20 probable starters all ranked this week.

The focus for the NC State wrestling team leading into the start of ACC conference action was self-reflection. Time away from competitions, renewed energy and focus in the practice room.

When inserted into a starting lineup from Day 1, true freshmen often make a splash in collegiate wrestling as the intrigue of an unknown and unproven wrestler on this stage catches a lot of attention.

After spending the first two months of the season in nothing but road action, NC State finally gets to roll out the home mat and will host its first dual of the 2023-24 season this Friday night. The fourth-ranked Wolfpack welcomes #9 Oklahoma State in one of the top non-conference duals of the season for both squads.

NC State found itself in a rather unfamiliar position as the Wolfpack walked off the mat at the Collegiate Wrestling Duals in Nashville Tuesday night. The Pack was on the wrong end of the scoreboard in the final dual of the event.

A few years back, NC State head coach Pat Popolizio was looking for ways to beef up the Wolfpack’s yearly schedule. One event in particular that was important to get on the schedule as much as possible — the annual Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas.

The NC State Wolfpack has been busy since their season opened on November 1. The Pack has started out a perfect 7-0 in duals, outscoring its foes 287-30. In those duals, NC State’s current 10 starters went a combined 48-3 in their matches.

There were plenty of rule changes that went into effect this collegiate season for athletes and coaches to grasp before the action started hitting the mat with duals on Nov. 1.
