Meyer Shapiro, the #3 recruit in the Class of 2023, announced his commitment to Cornell on social media.
The blue-chip middleweight from prep powerhouse Wyoming Seminary by way of Maryland took to Instagram to break the news. Current Cornell 149-pounder and three-time NCAA champ, Yianni Diakomihalis, was one of the first to congratulate Shapiro in the comments.
Shapiro is ranked #3 in the nation at 145-pounds and has, among many other accolades, a 2021 UWW U17 World Gold Medal at 65kg.
Watch Shapiro defeat Giorgi Gogritchiani of Georgia in the gold medal match from last summer:
Shapiro has also been active recently, competing in the Journeymen World Classic where he defeated the #3 ranked wrestler at 152-pound, Jackson Arrington.

Shapiro projects at 157/165 for college but has the frame to add more weight, giving coach Grey at Cornell more options for the Big Red.
