Finals Live Updates

125 - Nick Suriano, Michigan vs Eric Barnett, Wisconsin
1st Period - Underway and Suriano already with a leg attack and 2.  Quick escape by Barnett makes it 2-1 early.  Perfectly timed double by Suriano for two more and he's looking for a tilt, but loses the arm.  4-1 now.  Rideout for Suriano.

2nd Period: Suriano starts underneath and he escapes to make it 5-1. More just ridiculous timing on these attacks by Suriano.  Another double and another 2 makes it 7-1 Nick as he nearly has a turn.  Rideout.

3rd Period: Barnett starts underneath. Completely flattened out as Suriano has over 2 minutes of RT. Suriano kicks and immediately takes Barnett down.  Reversal for Barnett and he has a leg in.  Reversal Suriano makes it 11-4.  RT now locked.  Challenge by Wisconsin for something. No change and now Suriano working on top again.  Barnett completely flattened out and the ride-out gives Suriano a 12-4 major and extends Michigan's lead.

174 - Carter Starocci, PSU vs Logan Massa, Michigan

1st Period: Hand fighting in the middle of the mat. Should be a great one, with huge impact on the team race. Front headlock for a bit for Massa but it gets stalemated.  Starocci jumps to a single and a backside finish gives him a 2-0 lead early in the 1st. They get OOB and Massa nearly squares up and an escape is given but it looked premature.  Cael challenges. Call reversed and Starocci is back on top.  Massa gets away on the restart.  51 seconds of RT for Starocci however.  2-1 late in the period.

1st Period:  I think the Big 10 Team title comes down to this match. 2nd Period: Brooks starts under. He's out immediately and now it's 3-1 AB.  Back to the underhook for Brooks.  Continued pressure from Brooks and there's a stall warning against Amine.  Shot by Amine but Brooks squares.  2nd period ends.

He escapes, takes a shot but it's Brooks looking re-attack and Amine is in danger of getting taken down.  Amine recovers his position and gets a stalemate.  3-2 with a minute to go. High C by Amine but a great sprawl by Brooks and we have another stalemate.  Brooks warned for stalling and now a low attack and finishes for 2!  Late escape for OT and it's 4-4 are you kidding??

SV1: Low attack and Myles Amine takes down Brooks for the win!  Crazy finish! Michigan now in good shape to win!

2nd Period: Schultz chooses bottom. He sits out and is nearly sealed but great recovery by Dean.  Dean gets a leg in and they go out of bounds.  1:09 left.  Still riding on top, drops down to the leg and there's a stall warning against Max.  OOB and we restart.  Schultz is away and it's 2-2.

3rd Period: Dean starts underneath and is away.  3-2 Dean.  Schultz needs a score. Deep shot but better hips from Dean and he can't finish.  40 to go and Schultz is turning up the heat.  Time runs out and Dean wins 4-2 with riding time.

Consolation Semifinals

— A couple medical forfeits to report in the early going today. Patrick McKee moves on to the consolation finals at 125 after a forfeit win against Devin Schroder. No surprise at 141: Stevan Micic collects the medical forfeit against Sebastian Rivera. That pushes Michigan up to 121.5 points.

— Iowa is back into second after Kaleb Young’s 8-1 win against Nebraska’s Peyton Robb at 157. Young escaped quickly in the third period to preserve a 1:02 riding-time advantage, essentially putting him ahead 2-1 and forcing Robb into attack mode. Robb nearly scored twice on drag attempts before Young squared up. With time winding down in the final minute, Young took Robb to his back for six points to seal it.

— Huge points for Penn State. Brady Berge took Kendall Coleman from feet to back for a pin with one second left in the first period in the consolation semis at 157. The Nittany Lions move back into second.

— More points for the Wolverines. Dylan Ragusin defeated Chris Cannon of Northwestern 7-2 in the consolation semifinals at 133. Ragusin drove through Cannon on the edge for a takedown in the opening seconds and wrestled with the lead for much of the match. He tacked on a takedown just before time expired.

— Iowa’s Max Murin secured a 6-1 victory against Mike VanBrill of Rutgers at 149. Murin scored a takedown late in the first period and added to his lead when he scored on a double midway through the third period. Team standings at the moment: 1. Michigan 125, 2. Penn State 117, 3. Iowa 116.

— Big head-to-head win for Penn State with Beau Bartlett coming back to post a 3-1 victory against Michigan’s Kanen Storr for seventh at 149. Storr entered the third period with a 1:46 riding-time advantage and got to his feet with a chance to escape and preserve his minute edge, but Bartlett drove him out and kept him down. After Storr eventually escaped to even the score, Bartlett snapped him down and ran to the corner where he locked up a cradle for the go-ahead takedown. The victory secures a spot in Detroit for Barlett, while Storr will need an at-large ticket into the tournament.
