Tamyra Mensah-Stock goes for gold in Tokyo tomorrow against Nigeria's Blessing Oborududu. The match is significant for Mensah-Stock's Olympic goal and for Team USA who currently leads in the unofficial team race after Adeline Gray secured a silver medal earlier today.

USA fans can familiarize themselves with Mensah-Stock and Oborududu's history here. The match at the top of this article was the most lopsided victory for Mensah-Stock. In a 6-1 affair at the 2019 World Championships, Tamyra showed off her leg attacks with three takedowns in the first period and then hung on for a controlled victory.

Their other two meetings have been closer. The most recent match at the 2020 Matteo Pellicone was a 3-1 victory for Mensah-Stock. A second period takedown in this one gave Mensah-Stock the edge.

These two also met in 2018 at Beat the Streets. Winning 1-1 on criteria, Oborududu was put on the activity clock. She was unable to score which gave Mensah-Stock the point she needed for a 2-1 win. Match IV in their series comes with an Olympic gold medal on the line. That medal session is set to begin Tuesday, August 3 at 5:15 AM Eastern Standard Time.
