The seven former collegiate athletes in the FloWrestling 150-Pound 8-Man Challenge have used up all their NCAA eligibility, and are thus able to rake in the filthy lucre up for grabs at the event. Those collegiate careers were quite impressive, however, and deserve a little extra shine before the wrestlers take the mat on Friday with nearly $60,000 in total prize money on the line.

Below are all the NCAA finishes of each of our contestants, minus Bajrang Punia, who went the professional route in his native India, from earliest grad to most recent.

Here is more delightful collegiate trivia about our illustrious seven athletes that I've compiled:

  • There are 2 champs - Jordan Oliver (2011 & 2013) and Anthony Ashnault (2019).
  • 6 NCAA Finals appearances - Jordan Oliver (2011, 2012, 2013), Bryce Meredith (2016 & 2018) and Anthony Ashnault (2019).
  • 3 four-time All-Americans - Jordon Oliver, James Green & Anthony Ashnault.
  • 21 All-American honors plus Pat Lugo's NWCA All-American honor from 2020.
  • 27 NCAA National Qualifiers out of 28 opportunities.
  • 2016 has the most 8-man challenge entrants in the same NCAA Tournament (5).
  • 2016 also had the most entrants in the same bracket (3), Lugo, Pantaleo & Henderson at 149-pounds. Only Pantaleo reached the podium (6th).
  • Jordan Oliver is the only entrant to have wrestled in either the 2010 or 2011 NCAA tournaments.
  • Pat Lugo is the only entrant who qualified for the canceled 2020 tournament.
  • There are 20 total top 8 seeds going into the NCAA tournament.
  • And 14 total conference titles.
  • Jordan Oliver is the only four-time conference champ.
  • Weights wrestled ranged from 133 (four-seasons) to 157 (also four-seasons) with 141 and 149 getting nine-seasons each.
  • Had McKenna stayed in the event, we'd have an instance where three entrants wrestled in the same bracket in two consecutive NCAA tournaments who all finished lower in the more recent tournament. In 2016 Meredith, McKenna & Ashanult finished 2nd, 3rd & 4th respectively at 141. In 2017 they finished 4th, round of 12, and 6th. With McKenna out that is obviously no longer the case but it's my list of trivia and I decided to include it anyway.
  • And, because I already looked it up, below is what Bajrang was up to while these guys were all matriculating at institutions of higher learning.
