On October 16, Fresno State announced that after the 2020-21 season, they would be discontinuing their wrestling program. Despite the fact they could still compete for the Bulldogs this season, 12 wrestlers have already entered the portal and four of those — Lawrence Saenz, Jacob Wright, Jackson Hemauer, and AJ Nevills — are NCAA Championship qualifiers. One of those wrestlers, Hemauer, has already found a new home.
I am beyond blessed and grateful to announce that I will be moving to Greeley next semester to be a bear at The University of Northern Colorado!! 🐻⚠️🧢

Thank you to everyone who has helped guide me through the past few months. God is truly great.

During his time in Fresno, he was 23-10 as a redshirt freshman and was the #23 seed at the NCAA Championships at 184. Last season Hemauer dropped to 174 and was just 10-8 while battling injuries throughout the year. Hemauer appeared at #19 in our preseason rankings.
Billy Higgins was the starter for Northern Colorado last year at 174, but Hemauer pinned Higgins when Fresno State and Northern Colorado met in a dual last November. Hemauer also beat current Northern Colorado heavyweight Dalton Robertson while he was down at 184 in the 2018-19 season before his jump up to heavyweight.

Northern Colorado now could have seven wrestlers who have qualified for the NCAA Championships in their lineup next season.
