In a surprising move, 2017 World silver medalist Thomas Gilman has announced that he will be leaving the Hawkeye Wrestling Club to join Cael Sanderson and co. at the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club.

The move by Gilman is reminisce of Kyle Snyder's move to NLWC this past October.

Gilman, an Iowa native, has spent the last eight years in Iowa City, first as a student-athlete for the University of Iowa and then as a resident of the Hawkeye Wrestling Club.

While in college Gilman was a three-time All-American, placing 4th, 2nd, and 3rd. Post college he has made two World Teams. Most recently he won the Pan American Olympic Qualifier and qualified Team USA for the Olympics at 57 kg.

Gilman will join a talented wrestling room in State College that features World and Olympic champion Kyle Snyder, 2018 World champion David Taylor, two-time Senior World Team member Zain Retherford, and 2019 U23 World Team member Bo Nickal.

Prior to the move, Gilman was training in the same room as another 57 kg Olympic hopeful - Spencer Lee.

Listen to Gilman talk about the training situation with Spencer Lee below.
