USA Wrestling has released the list of 14 wrestlers that will be sent to Ottawa, Canada for the Pan American Olympic Qualifier.

There are no real surprises on this list based on the criteria of who could be selected. David Taylor will be wrestling in his first match since last year's Beat the Streets, and he will be joined by 2019 world teamers Daton Fix, Zain Retherford, and Nick Gwiazdowski.

On the women's freestyle side, the four representatives were the winners from last week's wrestle-off, plus Kayla Miracle at 62kg. In Greco-Roman the 2019 world teamers at those same Olympic weights will be responsible with trying to qualify the weight for Tokyo.

The qualifying procedures are the same across all three styles: the athletes must finish top two and make the finals to qualify America at that weight for the Games. There will be no true second.

Are You Shooting High Crotches Or Head-Outside-Singles?

I like to make a distinction between a high crotch and a head-outside-single. One thing that you should probably understand is that this is less of a rule and more of a coaching preference. I started making the distinction when I was teaching kids in order to separate the ideas in my athletes' heads. If you have any insight into how you teach the difference between these two specific techniques, please get a hold of me. I'd love to hear it.
