Gavin Teasdale recently appeared on the 53rd episode of the PA Power Podcast and announced that he was living and training in Iowa City and that he plans to enroll in the University of Iowa this fall.

The four-time Pennsylvanian state champ spoke on the show right around the one hour mark of the episode. Teasdale discussed his high school career, his tumultuous first year of college at Penn State, and his current training situation in Iowa.

Said Teasdale about Iowa:

This is where I need to be.

Gavin was removed from the Penn State roster a little less than a month after registering, but not wrestling at, the 2019 Southern Scuffle. A few months later Teasdale would be in Iowa and the Hawkeye wrestling room, of which he speaks glowingly.

Regarding how Iowa is a better fit for his needs as a wrestler, Teasdale explained:

I need a hands-on type of coach that’s there for you through the thick and thin, and that cares about you not just on the mat but cares about you as a man.

Teasdale also mentioned that he walks around at about 140 to 145 pounds, and that making 125 last season proved to be one of his biggest challenges. The Hawkeyes will have no shortage of lightweight training partners for Gavin, as Spencer Lee, Austin DeSanto and Max Murin are all eligible to return to action next season, although Lee and DeSanto do have redshirts available.
