Kyle Conel was one of, if not, the biggest story of the 2018 NCAA tournament.
He took Cleveland by storm when he entered unseeded and pinned #1-seeded Kollin Moore in the first period to make the semifinals. Ultimately, he ended up finishing third in 2018 and came into this season as a potential title contender. However, an injury forced him to miss some mat time before announcing he would be out for the entire season.
Now the 2018 All-American has announced via Twitter that he will be seeking a medical redshirt and along with looking to transfer to Penn State to finish his college career.
If I am able to get a medical redshirt for next season, I will be attending Penn State University to pursue a masters and complete my final year of eligibility!— Kyle Conel (@KyjorRL) March 18, 2019
Conel was the #2 ranked wrestler at 197 coming into the season before he was sidelined and announced he would undergo season-ending surgery on Dec. 10.
