Marquee Matchup: #3 Bryce Meredith vs #6 Chad Red
No. 3 Bryce Meredith vs No. 6 Chad Red is one of three ranked matchups that highlight the Wyoming at Nebraska dual on Friday night.
This Friday night, one of the most exciting freshmen in the country takes on a former NCAA finalist in Lincoln, NE.
The 141-pound battle between No. 3-ranked Bryce Meredith and No. 6 Chad Red highlights the evening's dual as Wyoming travels to Nebraska. The dual starts at 7 PM Central time, so make sure to watch LIVE on Flo.
Meredith, a senior at UW, has been the face of the 18th-ranked Cowboys' program for two years now, and this dual will kick off his final season of eligibility. Since the NWCA All-Star Classic on Nov. 5 did not count in the win-loss column, this will be the first official match of the season for the two-time All-American.
Red was a much-ballyhooed recruit for the No. 13 Cornhuskers coming out of Indiana, and now the redshirt freshman gets to make his home debut against Meredith. Red is 4-0 on the year after winning the Daktronics Open on Nov. 5, culminating with his much-discussed "new danger rules" takedown in overtime against Minnesota's Tommy Thorn.
Meredith will be the fourth All-American that Red has wrestled in his short career, having taken losses to Matt Kolodzik and Anthony Ashnault last year at Midlands.
Neither wrestler is easy to score on from his feet, with Meredith a more traditional scrambler and Red featuring a nasty cradle off a crackdown. Clean finishes will be hard to come by, and riding time could very easily be the difference in the match.
Aside from Meredith vs. Red, other ranked matchups include No. 5 Tyler Berger taking on No. 18 Archie Colgan and No. 11 Branson Ashworth battling No. 16 Isaiah White. Projected lineups for each team can be found below.
