No. 1 Mason Parris Makes His College Commitment!

Mason Parris has made his decision! He will be furthering his academic and athletic career at the University of Michigan, wrestling for Coach McFarland and the Wolverines.

Mason Parris, the No. 1-ranked 220-pound high school wrestler in the nation, has verbally committed to the University of Michigan.

The Lawrenceburg, Indiana, native announced live on FloWrestling that he will be joining UM head coach Joe McFarland and the rest of the Wolverines team next year. He projects as a career heavyweight for the Michigan squad.

Parris is the No. 6-ranked recruit on the class of 2018 Big Board. He will be part of a recruiting class that is shaping up to be one of the best in the NCAA, with Joey Silva and Will Lewan having also verbally pledged to wrestle collegiately in Ann Arbor, MI. Silva is ranked No. 9 and Lewan is No. 29 on the Big Board.

McFarland was not only vying for Parris' commitment among a final list of five schools that included NC State, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, and Northwestern but also with a number of college football coaches, all of whom were offering full scholarships. Thankfully for the maize and blue and wrestling fans everywhere, Parris chose wrestling.
