That left-handed high crotch is just way too tough to stop.
Brent Metcalf went undefeated on the weekend as Team USA finished in second place at the World Cup. Metcalf showcased his relentless offense as he mowed down opponents from Cuba, Russia, Mongolia and Iran.
His opponents just couldn’t find an answer for his amazing takedown skills coupled with an incredible amount of pressure that had Russia’s Ahkmed Chakaev crawling off the mat after the former Iowa Hawkeye teched him 14-3.
Metcalf’s other wins were decisions of 8-2 over Mandakhnaran Ganzorig of Mongolia, 3-1 over Iran’s Masmoud Esmailpour and 7-2 over Cuba’s Franklin Maren Castillo.
It’s his high level performance, which he defeated his opponents by a combine score of 32-8, that make Brent Metcalf the FloWrestler of the Week.

After losing to Michael Kemerer at Super 32 and Dapper Dan, Thomsen finally got over the hump to defeat the future Hawkeye. After Kemerer tied the match at 4-4 with an escape Thomsen secured the winning takedown with 10 seconds left to get the win.
Vinny’s pick: Tervel Dlagnev, USA

Came in clutch with a 10-0 tech. fall shutout over Russia’s Arslanbek Aliev. The win kept Team USA in the hunt for gold as it gave them the 17-16 dual victory on criteria.
Bratke’s pick: Julian Chlebove, PA

After the 8th grader had a third place finish at the FloNational tournament in the high school division he moved on to Flo Reno Worlds where he took home the 105-pound 15 and under division title. Chlebove had three tech. falls, three first period pins and a 4-1 decision in the final to win the title.
CP’s pick: Bryce Steiert, IA
Claimed a 3-2 upset decision over #2-Josh Shields at the Dream Team Classic. Steiert was able to fight off the deep shot of the future Sun Devil and secure the winning takedown late in the third period to claim the victory.
