Crazy Fargo Bracket - 2011 Junior 119

Austin Bernard Nahshon Garrett

As I have continued to look through old Fargo Brackets I found this to be a particularly interesting and amazing bracket to look over. While it doesn't have quite the level of insanity in terms of guys who didn't place, I think the order of placers and the quality of the top 8 make this a bona fide Crazy Fargo Bracket!

Today we look over 2011 Junior 119.

But before we dive ALL the way in, don't miss Jordan Burroughs On Flo Radio Live Today (Thursday) at 10 AM CT!

Top Half:
Thomas Gilman - 7-0 on the top side beating Rami Haddadin, Paul Petrov, Cory Clark, Jered Cortez and Max Hvolbek.
Cory Clark - 7-1 with the lone loss to Hawkeye teammate Gilman. Clark knocked off Matt Manley and Jered Cortez for the runner up finish in this half.
Jered Cortez - 7-2 here falling to Gilman and Clark alone and knocked off Max Hvolbek for 3rd.
Max Hvolbek - 5-2 falling to Cortez and Gilman. Hvolbek knocked off Vito Pasone and Max Byrd to All American.

Bottom Half:
David Terao - 8-0 beating Dylan Peters, Tim Lambert and Evan Silver! Salty!
Tim Lambert - 7-1 falling only to Terao (though he lost 1-1, 5-0, 1-1) Thanks old rules!! Tim beat Evan Silver, Nyama Godwin and Nahshon Garrett (5-1, 2-0!).
Evan Silver - 5-2 falling to Lambert in round 1 and later on to Terao. Silver beat Nyama Godwin, Nahshon Garrett (3-0, 1-0) and Brenden Campbell.
Nahshon Garrett - 6-2 for Nahshon losing to Silver and Lambert. He defeated Artem Timchenko, Dylan Peters and Nyama Godwin.

1. Thomas Gilman - Iowa's 125 lber and NCAA Finalist, 4 time Nebraska State Champ, Midlands Champ.
2. David Terao - All American for American this year. Fan favorite of Madison Square Garden.
3. Tim Lambert - NCAA Qualifier for Nebraska
4. Cory Clark - 3 time NCAA All American for Iowa and two time NCAA Finalist.
5. Evan Silver - 2x NCAA Qualifier for Stanford. Ironman & Beast champ, also a 4x Prep National Champ.
6. Jered Cortez - 4x Illinois State Champ, PSU's 133 for next year.
7. Nahshon Garrett - NCAA Champion for Cornell, four time All American.
8. Max Hvolbek - Wrestler for Stanford, 3x Beast and Ironman placer.

1st Place Match
Thomas Gilman (Nebraska) over David Terao (Hawaii) Dec 4-1,2-1
3rd Place Match
Tim Lambert (Michigan) over Cory Clark (Iowa) Dec 2-2,4-2,6-3
5th Place Match
Evan Silver (Maryland) over Jered Cortez (Illinois) Dec 0-1,1-1,1-0
7th Place Match
Nahshon Garrett (California) over Hvolbek Max (California) Dec 4-4,9-1

Amazing Also-Rans:
Dylan Peters -
UNI All American at 125.
Paul Petrov - NCAA Qualifier for Bucknell, Nationally ranked most of the year.
Matt Manley - NCAA Qualifier for Missouri. Beat Ryan Mango, Micah Jordan Solomon Chishko.
Vito Pasone - Beat Corey Keener and Pat Rollins. 2012 Senior National Champ.
Garth Yenter - MSU 133 starter. Beat All American Joe Roth.
Godwin Nyama - 2012 PA State Champ and Powerade Champ.
Will Mason - Starter for UVA at 133.

So the DNP's were not AS absurd, but still fairly brutal considering. One thing that these other brackets we've posted have had is a bit more time for us to truly recognize and appreciate how stacked they were. This one will be like a fine wine, only improving with age. I just couldn't wait for this one. In a few years how many NCAA titles and All American finishes will we have between Garrett, Clark, Gilman, Peters, Cortez, Terao, Lambert and Silver? I'm thinking quite a few. This one is crazy now, but will only get crazier as time goes by.
