With host Christian Pyles back, the crew of JD Rader and David Bray also looked ahead to the Cowboy Invitational, discussed Jordan Burroughs and his loss to Mikey Caliendo at Real American Freestyle and answered questions about college lineups, recruiting and potential matchups.
The episode featured discussion of several of the sport's biggest developing storylines as the college season approaches and international competition continues.
Here is a look at the biggest topics from Episode 1,274 of FRL.
Bo Bassett And Luke Stanich Headline All-Star Classic Matchups
The NWCA All-Star Classic matchups led the episode, with the hosts highlighting a Division I lineup featuring top-10 wrestlers throughout the card.

The marquee matchup comes at 141 lbs, where Virginia Tech's Bo Bassett is scheduled to face Lehigh's Luke Stanich. The two are also expected to meet in the Virginia Tech vs Lehigh dual on Nov. 6 before wrestling again at the All-Star Classic roughly two weeks later.
Bassett enters college after a remarkable stretch that included winning the U.S. Open, capturing a U20 world title, making the U23 and Senior world teams, and competing at the Senior World Championships.
The hosts emphasized the significance of Bassett's collegiate debut and the decision by Stanich to face him twice in such a short span.
"There hasn't been a more anticipated collegiate debut than Bo Bassett's," Pyles said. "He's not going to ease into it by any means."
The matchup also gives Stanich an opportunity to reinforce his position among the nation's top wrestlers. The hosts noted that Bassett's recent success has changed the conversation around the weight class, but Stanich remains a formidable opponent.
"These two guys are both absolutely about it," Bray said. "They're going to let it fly."
The announced Division I card also includes Eddie Ventresca vs. Ezekiel Witt at 125 lbs, Aaron Seidel vs. TK Davis at 133 lbs, Shayne Van Ness vs. Caleb Henson at 149 lbs and Ty Watters vs. Collin Gaj at 157 lbs.
Other matchups include Paddy Gallagher vs. Cameron Catrabone at 165 lbs, Danny Wask vs. Beau Mantanona at 174 lbs, Brock Mantanona vs. Rocco Welsh at 184 lbs and Stephen Little vs. Josh Barr at 197 lbs.
The show also covered Division II and Division III national champion matchups and four women's bouts. Later in the episode, the crew announced the heavyweight matchup between Connor Mirasola and Braxton Amos, completing the card.
World Championships: Helen Maroulis And Diamond Guilford Remain In Medal Contention
The crew also reviewed Team USA's performance at the World Championships, focusing on the women's competition and the Americans' remaining opportunities to reach the podium.
Helen Maroulis remains in contention for a bronze medal after a narrow loss to Japan. Maroulis held a lead before her opponent scored late, leaving the American with a path through repechage.
The hosts were encouraged by Maroulis' chances to recover and compete for a medal.
Dymond Guilford also remains alive after a close loss to Ukraine. Guilford led 4-1 with roughly 15 seconds remaining before giving up a takedown, allowing her opponent to advance to the final.
The crew believed Guilford had shown enough to remain optimistic about her medal chances.
"She did everything but beat that girl, and she's in the finals," Pyles said while discussing the result.
Kayla Miracle was eliminated after a loss to Japan, while Morgan Turner was disqualified for repeated eye pokes. The hosts discussed reports that Turner's opponent had suffered a serious eye injury and required hospital treatment.
The crew also previewed the upcoming U.S. competitors, including Cristelle Rodriguez, Adaugo Nwachukwu, Kennedy Blades and Precious Wieser.
Men's freestyle is set to begin Thursday, with Kyle Snyder and Bassett among the Americans the hosts were eager to watch.
The 97 kg bracket received particular attention because of its depth, with the crew describing it as potentially one of the deepest fields in the weight class's history.
Super 32 Takeaways: Mac Crosson, Melvin Miller And Record-Setting Champions
After covering the international action, the hosts turned to Super 32, where several close matches and championship milestones stood out.
At 157 lbs, Mac Crosson defeated Camryn Howard in a tightly contested final that went to ride-outs. The matchup had been anticipated after Crosson defeated Howard in freestyle earlier in the year.
The hosts revisited a disputed takedown sequence during the final, but the result provided another significant win for Crosson.
"It was a fantastic match," Bray said. "Not a ton of scoring, but some really interesting sequences."
Bray also highlighted Crosson's development over the past year, noting how the wrestler has continued to prove himself against top competition.
Melvin Miller captured his third Super 32 title at 165 lbs. The crew discussed how Miller was tested in the final and appeared to have difficulty maintaining his early pace, even though he ultimately secured another championship.
"Three Super 32 titles is pretty incredible," Pyles said.
The tournament also produced two historic accomplishments. Jaclyn Bouzakis became the third four-time Super 32 champion, while Taina Fernandez became the first five-time champion.
At 106 lbs, Nelson Villafane III dominated Luke Loren in the final. Already a U17 world champion, Villafane impressed the hosts with his physicality, hand fighting and attacking ability.
"He's a freaking dog, man," Pyles said of Villafane. "I mean, his hand fight, insane, very physical, smooth attacks."
The crew also highlighted Pennsylvania's 26 placers and California's 18 medalists in the men's division, noting the strength of the high school wrestling scene across both states.
Jordan Burroughs Falls To Mikey Caliendo At Real American Freestyle
The Real American Freestyle card provided another major discussion point, particularly after Mikey Caliendo defeated Jordan Burroughs.
The result caught the hosts off guard. Caliendo had entered the matchup as a younger opponent facing one of the most accomplished wrestlers of his generation, but he secured the win after building an early lead.
"This just wasn't on my radar," Pyles said.
The crew discussed the level of competition Burroughs has faced since joining RAF and the challenge Caliendo presented. They also considered Burroughs' longevity and how his approach to competition might change as he continues his career.
Sebastian Rivera over Vito Arujau was another notable result. Rivera rallied from a 10-1 deficit to win on criteria, prompting discussion about Arujau's transition to 65 kg and his potential at the weight.
The episode also covered Ridge Lovett and his win over Jordan Oliver, Yonger Bastida over Zach Elam and other results from the RAF event.
Cowboy Invitational Could Answer Oklahoma State Lineup Questions
With the college season soon underway, the crew looked ahead to the Cowboy Invitational in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Pyles plans to attend the event, which is expected to provide an early look at Oklahoma State's lineup.
The hosts discussed several weight classes where questions remain, including potential battles involving wrestlers such as Casey Swiderski, Sergio Vega and other members of the Cowboys' roster.
Rather than treating the tournament as a series of internal wrestle-offs, the crew emphasized the value of seeing Oklahoma State's wrestlers compete against outside opponents.
"I know it's like people are thinking of it as just wrestle-offs," Pyles said. "But I think it's a lot more than that."
Little Rock, Gardner-Webb and SIUE are also in the field, creating the possibility of meaningful matchups against wrestlers from other programs. The hosts specifically mentioned the potential for a rematch between Little Rock's Stephen Little and Cody Merrill after their close previous meeting.
The event is not scheduled to be streamed live, making the results and observations from Stillwater particularly important for fans trying to understand how the Cowboys' lineup could take shape.

With the World Championships moving along and the college wrestling season soon to kick off, the FRL crew will return Thursday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. ET to break down the latest results, discuss emerging storylines and look ahead to the biggest matchups on the wrestling calendar.
