Here's what to know before the two collide at Final X:
Arujau Calls For A Delay
Last Tuesday, USA Wrestling released a statement saying that Arujau had requested and has since received a delay for his matchup against Forrest.
The competition was initially set for Saturday, June 14, at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., but now the date and location will be July 14 in Fargo, North Dakota.
First Time As Opponents
While Arujau and Forrest have never formally competed one-on-one on the Senior level, they were in the same bracket at the 2024 World Team Trials. Arujau won that event while Forrest finished in third place.
Arujau is known for his consistency in the 61 kg weight class, bringing home a Senior World title in 2023 and a bronze medal in 2024. Forrest has more recently made the switch from 57 kg to 61 kg and is turning heads doing it. Forrest qualified for Final X by bringing home the top prize in last month's U.S. Open.
Forrest In the Olympic Trials
Forrest made an impression at the Senior level last year after winning a stout bracket at the Last Chance Olympic Trials Qualifier and finishing in fourth place at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials at 57 kg.
Some other impressive feats for the high schooler include taking Senior level wins over NCAA champions Seth Gross, Nathan Tomasello, and Nahshon Garrett. Forrest still has one year of high school to complete before joining David Taylor and company at Oklahoma State.
