Thomas Gilman announced that he will be leaving Oklahoma State and will be transitioning back to Penn State to take a role at the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club. Gilman confirmed this on the Baschamania podcast which you can view in its entirety below.

Why Is Gilman Leaving Oklahoma State?

When asked about what went into his decision to leave Oklahoma State, Gliman said, “...the decision in the first place (to go on staff at Oklahoma State)...was fast…and that’s probably the genesis of everything.” He went on to say, “Right when we got down here, it seemed like, there was issues. Were they with me? Were they with the staff? I think that everybody is at fault. I’m not going to point fingers…I think that it was mutual.” Gilman then went on to say, “There are no hard feelings…You can have a disagreement and move on, and still be fine."

What Will Gilman’s Role Be At Penn State?

Gilman shared that he will be moving back to State College and taking an official coaching role with the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club. He also shared that he’s not retired and the door is still open for him to compete on the senior level. Gilman said, “I’ve had those conversations (regarding competing and coaching) with Coach Cody and Coach Cael, and they’re open and supportive of anything. If I want to just do the coaching thing…great, or if I want to jump back on the mat and compete, that’s awesome too.” On the move back to State College, Gilman said, “That door opened back up and I wasn’t sure it was ever going to…They opened that door back up and I’m not going to let them down again.”
