This World Team Trials Bracket Was Ridiculously Loaded

There are loaded brackets, and then are brackets that make your jaw hit the floor.

Good luck finding a field deeper than the 55-kilogram women’s freestyle 2015 World Team Trials bracket — especially since their collective credentials currently include six combined World/Olympic gold medals, 17 World/Olympic medals, and 27 appearances at the Worlds/Olympics.

Five wrestlers from the 55 kg bracket are competing at Final X on Saturday, June 10: Sarah Hildebrandt (50 kg), Dom Parrish (53 kg), Jacarra Winchester (55 kg), Helen Maroulis (57 kg), and Kayla Miracle (62 kg).

Another mind-blowing stat: Four women from the bracket were on the six-member 2020 Olympic Team: Hildebrandt (50 kg), Winchester (53 kg), Maroulis (57 kg), and Miracle (62 kg).

Here’s the strange part: Sharon Jacobson earned an automatic bid to the best-of-three finals and she never made a World team. Maroulis won the tournament, beat Jacobson in straight matches to make the team, and won her first World title in Las Vegas later that year.

Hildebrandt, Parrish, Winchester, Maroulis, and Miracle are favored at Final X, so they could add to these already otherworldly statistics.

Below are all the senior-level World teamers in the bracket along with the full bracket with results.
