2023-24 National Girls High School Wrestling Rankings

140 pounds

USA Wrestling, FloWrestling and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum has published the May 2024 rankings for high school girls wrestlers for the 2023-24 season. This national ranking evaluates all girls enrolled in grades 8-12, and athletes from all 50 states are eligible for selection.

These rankings were heavily influenced by the major post-season national events, most specifically the USA Wrestling Women’s Nationals in Spokane, Wash., the USA Wrestling Girls National High School Recruiting Showcase in Las Vegas, the NHSCA Nationals in Virginia Beach. A number of other major national-level competitions were also evaluated in these rankings. There were considerable changes in all weight classes, as the nation’s best athletes competed against each other in the international styles as well as folkstyle.

There were three new #1-ranked wrestlers in the 14 weight classes outlined by the National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS): Anaya Falcon of California (105), Karlee Brooks of Arizona (120) and Jasmine Robinson of Texas (155).

This month also includes the re-introduction of the 95-pound weight class rankings, which is not contested in the regular high school season. This reflects the lighter weight classes contested by United World Wrestling internationally, as well as the inclusion of the 95-pound class in USA Wrestling Junior competition, as well as the 88-pound and 94-pound classes in USA Wrestling 16U competition. The committee started the 95-pound ranking with 10 athletes in May, which will expand in the next few rankings.

Holding the #1 ranking at 95 pounds in the May ranking is Hailey Delgado of Texas.

Four #1-ranked wrestlers changed weight classes and remained at No. 1 in the new weight class: Morgan Turner of Illinois (100), Everest Leydecker of Arizona (125), Taina Fernandez of Maryland (135) and Bella Williams of Oklahoma (140),

The #1-ranked athletes who remained at the top of their weight class are Audrey Jimenez of Arizona (110), Isabella Marie Gonzales of California (115), Aubre Krazer of Pennsylvania (130), Sydney Perry of Illinois (145), Piper Fowler of Tennessee (170), Sabrina Nauss of Michigan (190) and Gemma Templeman of California (235).

There are considerable changes in the Pound-For-Pound (P-4-P) rankings. #1 Audrey Jimenez of Arizona, who placed second in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials at 50 kg, remains on top. There are six new athletes in the P-4-P in this ranking: #11 Cadence Diduch of Illinois, #17 Epenesa Elison of California, #21 Zao Estrada of South Carolina, #22 Emma Bacon of Pennsylvania, #23 Sydney Perry of Illinois and #24 Kaili Manuel of Michigan.

The next National Girls High School Ranking will be in late June or early July. Included in the review will be the final six USA Wrestling Regional Championships, the Junior National Duals in Tulsa, Okla., the 16U National Duals in Westfield, Ind., plus other significant events on the national level. This will be the final ranking of the 2023-24 season, and will appear before the 2024 USMC Junior and 16U Nationals in Fargo, N.D.

Coaches, parents and athletes are encouraged to provide information about specific athletes and their achievements throughout the year for the committee to consider. If they have information on specific girls who should be considered for ranking or updates on their achievements, please send it by email to girlsrankings@usawrestling.org. The quality of these rankings continue to improve as people choose to share updated information.

The committee is specifically seeking more information on athletes for the 95-pound rankings, who must have been in grades 8-12 during the 2023-24 scholastic year.
