Isaiah Martinez Wants To Win A World Title

null

After winning NCAA titles as a freshman and sophomore for the University of Illinois, Isaiah Martinez is back for his junior season. But before he seeks his third NCAA title, IMar will be looking for his first World Title.

The California native won NCAA titles at 157 and will be moving up to 165 this year. But before that happens, Martinez will be competing at 70kg (154.5lbs) in the 2016 World Team Trials at the Bill Farrell International Open on November 11. IMar in the mix at 70kg makes this a real fun weight, there are a lot of guys it would be awesome to see him wrestle.

James Green is a returning 70kg bronze medalist from the 2015 World Championships, so he will have a bye to the tournament finals. The following wrestlers, and more, will compete in a mini tournament, with the winner earning the right to wrestle James Green in a best-of-three series to determine who gets to wrestle in the World Championships this December in Budapest, Hungary:

Jordan Oliver (Sunkist Kids)
Jason Chamberlain (NWTC/Titan Mercury WC)
Jimmy Kennedy (Cliff Keen WC/NYAC)
Jason Welch (Chicago RTC/Titan Mercury WC)
Kellen Russell (Cliff Keen WC/NYAC)
