Class of 2022 High School Big Board

2022 Big Board: DI Talent Emerging

There is a new #1, but he’s not unfamiliar with the #1 spot. Ryan Crookham (PA) moved back into the top spot despite a period of inactivity. It conflicts the weight class ranking that has Nic Bouzakis (PA) a spot ahead of Crookham because he has been active at the weight class. Bouzakis and Crookham aren’t strangers on the mat and they should have a chance to settle things at Ironman.

Speaking of Ironman, a large portion of the sophomore class elite tier will be taking the mat at Walsh Jesuit. Keep a close eye at 126lbs as Crookham, Bouzakis, and Jordan Williams (OK) are all expected to be in the field. Williams was the top mover in the top 10, picking up the 120lb title at Super32. Seth Shumate (OH) has a strong enough resume to overcome a hiccup performance at Super32, and will have a chance to add to his resume at Ironman.

Brian Soldano (NJ) was the biggest mover on the board going from #59 to #19 with a 3rd place finish at Super32. That performance included a pin over fellow Big Boarder Joseph Martin (CA) who now follows Soldano rounding out the top 20.

Alex Almeyda (NJ), Cory Land (AL), and Erik Gibson (PA) were movers in the middle of the board turning in strong Super32 performances. Almeyda was 3rd at 120lbs, Land was runner-up at 106lbs, and Gibson didn’t place with two losses to highly ranked seniors and earned a win over fellow Big Boarder Nicholas Vafiadis (VA). Chase Horne (GA) made a double-digit gain with a runner-up performance at 220lbs.
