This Saturday is JV league finals at Palo Alto High School. Weigh Ins at 7 AM and wrestling will begin at 9 AM. Things to remember (specifically for coaches): 1) This is a second man tournament so you can bring all of your boys 9th-12th grade who are not wrestling in varsity league finals 2) If you have more than two female wrestlers in the same weight you can only send 1 female wrestler to varsity league finals the following weekend. Therefore you can put your extra female wrestler into the boys 2nd man tournament this weekend. 3) Weigh ins begin at 7am. All teams need to be inside the Palo Alto gym and ready to weigh in before 7am. 4) Wrestling will start at 9am on 6 mats and run through until the conclusion of the tournament. We will be wrestling in the small gym, dance studio and wrestling room on 6 mats. We will not be using the large gym. 5) Because the tournament is only 1 day this year we will not have a true wrestle back on brackets over 8 due to the 5 match rule. Next year we will go back to wrestling over 2 days in a true wrestler back. 6) Gate for this Saturday: the SCVAL will be charging a gate for league finals this Saturday. Its $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and students with an ASB card. 7) Mat Assignments: Please take a look thee assignments and let me know if you have any issues with covering these. This year we are going to need everyone to help pitch in on a few 3 hour shifts to help run mats for varsity and JV league finals. I did a random draw for the 3-6pm shifts to help fill out the mat assignments which is why a few schools will have to cover more than 1 shift. The idea is that the varsity kids can volunteer on 2/8 and the JV kids can volunteer on 2/14 and 2/15. I signed my kids up for the early shift on 2/14 as my admin team gave me permission to excuse my kids early from class to help run the tournament on 2/14. Please let me know if your school has an issue with covering any of these mats. We need 4 people per mat to make it run smoothly.
