`Welcome to the 29th Annual Ted Kato Memorial Wrestling Tournament named in honor of a great coach, educator and administrator who was a legend in our state and community. WHEN ● JANUARY 25, 2025 WHERE ● Thompson Falls High School Gym WHAT ● This year will include both a girls and boys varsity tournament. We will wrestle in a 16-man bracket and recognize (with medals) top four places in each weight class. A team trophy will be awarded to the top girls team and top boys team. Depending on numbers, the girls bracket may move to a 8-man bracket. ● An additional mat may be added depending on numbers (total 3 mats) PAYMENT ● To help with the costs of the tournament, we are asking each school to pay a $125.00 fee for boys and $125 fee for girls. ● Please mail entry fee to before the tournament or bring with you day of: o Madison Wheeler, Athletic Director TFHS 206 Haley Ave. W. SEEDING: ● Seeding will be based on the wrestler`s 1) Place at last year?s State tournament 2) Place at last year?s Divisional tournament top 4 3)2024-2025 varsity record. Head to Head Criteria will allow a wrestler to move up one spot if he has defeated a higher seeded wrestler provided he has not lost to a lower seeded wrestler. All other contestants will be randomly drawn into the bracket. Each Team will be allowed to enter one wrestler per weight class. Extra wrestlers will be decided by availability by weight Class ● The tournament will be run on track wrestling. WEIGH IN/SKIN CHECK ● Weigh In will be conducted at your own school on Friday Night per MHSA Rules or if you are wrestling on Friday Night, that weigh-in will count for the tournament. We will get January`s 1lb allowance 103 is 104, 113 is 114, etc. If anyone is wrestling Thursday please let me know and we would get an additional 1lb. Kevin Sparks will be available in the library at 8am for any scratches. ● The Boys locker room will be used by Male wrestlers for changing and showers. The Girls locker room will be used only by Female wrestlers. TENTATIVE TIME SCHEDULE: COACHES MEETING 8:30 am ● Seeding meeting in the high school library. 1ST ROUND 9:00 am ● Wrestling begins and runs continuously until the consolation semifinals are completed. We will break when needed if rest time becomes an issue. ● CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS approximately 5:00pm A face off will be announced 20 minutes after the last Consi Semi Match ● Matches will be run on one mat or both mats based on tournament schedule. AWARDS PRESENTATION ● Medals will be presented for the previous four weight classes after the 132 match, 160 match, and HWT match. LENGTH OF CONSOLATION MATCHES ● All consolation matches will be 1-2-2 ADMISSION PRICES: ALL DAY & CHAMPIONSHIP SESSION GENERAL INFORMATION: 1. Please bring your own towels to shower with. 2. A hospitality room will be provided for coaches and spouses, bus drivers, workers, administrators, referees, and Shawn Allen. 3.
