There's nothing like a rematch, especially when it's fresh on your mind. That's what Persaeus Gomez and Elena Ivaldi get at Who's Number One on September 9 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The two met in the best-of-three finals at U17 Women's Nationals in May, with Ivaldi winning straight matches: 5-2 and by fall. Gomez won't have to wait long for a shot at redemption.

Gomez won the 16U National Championships at 117 pounds in July after finishing third at 106 pounds the previous year. She also notched gold medals this year at the High School Recruiting Showcase and the Pan-American Championships. Gomez is entering her junior year at Pomona High School in Colorado after winning the first-ever sanctioned girls state championship in 2021, following it up with a second title in 2022. 

Ivaldi is entering her senior year at Del Oro High School in Loomis, California, after a solid 2022 season. She was a U17 World teamer at 53 kilograms after winning the 2022 California state championships at 121 pounds. Ivaldi also placed third at 16U Nationals at 117 pounds in 2021. 

Who's Number One will be the third meeting between the two.
