Daniel Cardenas is one of the top middle-weight recruits in the class of 2022, and until recently, he was planning to take his talents to Ithaca, New York to join the Cornell program. That all changed two days ago when Cardenas announced a new commitment with a post on Instagram

Cardenas isn't the first Cornell commit to join the new-look Stanford program that's led by former Cornell coach Rob Koll. Nico Provo, a strong light-weight prospect in the class of 2021, decided to head west instead of moving to Ithaca, and not long after, upper-weight prospect Jack Darrah changed his plans from Cornel to Stanford.

Cardenas will join a middle-weight core that includes high-level partners like 141-pounder Real Woods and All American 149-pounder Jaden Abas. Cardenas could fit nicely at 157 lbs.

The Colorado prep is currently the #4 ranked 152-pounder in the country. He's coming off a 10-0 performance at NHSCA Duals that included a victory over #1 Caleb Henson.
