James Rowley, one of the top prospects in the class of 2022, has announced his college decision. The 2021 Cadet World finalist announced his plans with the following post.

En route to his Cadet World silver, Rowley had to navigate a challenging 80kg World Team Trials bracket where he earned ranked victories over #9 (170) Tate Naaktgeboren, #14 (182) Luke Vanadia, and two wins over #11 (182) Cole Mirasola. He was also a Super 32 finalist a year ago.

Rowley could make a big impact for the Badgers, a program that has found success with wrestlers who are familiar with international stages. Just this summer, current Wisconsin freshman Braxton Amos won a Junior World title in freestyle and a Junior World bronze in Greco. On top of that, recent Wisconsin commit Brock Bobzien represented Team USA at the Cadet World Championships in Greco Roman this summer.

Rowley's commitment is significant as he is one of the top remaining uncommitted seniors in the class of 2022. He's an immediate difference-maker for the Badgers and a massive piece of the Wisconsin puzzle moving forward.

With seniors Andrew McNally and Chris Weiler set to vacate the 174 and 184 lineup spots at the end of the 2021-2022 season, the staff might consider rolling out Rowley right away. Whether he starts for the Badgers during the 2022-2023 season or redshirts, Coaches Bono, Reader, and Gross will certainly be excited about the role Rowley will play for the next several years.
