The two once again met at Final X 2019, but things went a little differently. The total scoring this time was only 17-11 in favor of Burroughs, and Martinez even won match two. Burroughs did win matches one and three, however, which put him on first ninth-straight World/Olympic Team and kept IMAR from his first.

What’s Different This Time

Now, almost exactly two years later, the rivalry is resumed. For the first time in this series, the competition won’t take place in Burroughs backyard of Lincoln, Nebraska, and it won’t be at 74 kg. Instead, it will in a neutral ground of Austin, Texas, and at the two’s new weight class of 79 kg.
