Just a day after Cody Chittum, the top recruit in the class of 2023, committed, another massive recruit came off the board. Super 32 champ Christian Carroll has announced that he'll be joining Mike Poeta and company at Illinois.

New Prairie, Indiana's Carroll is currently the #3 recruit in the class of 2023, and he's established himself as one of the top prospective 197-pounders in the country. He drove that point home at Super 32 in the fall when he won a loaded bracket and knocked off Cadet World Teamer Gavin Nelson in a tight battle in the finals.

Carroll is the third big boarder to commit in the class of 2023, but he's already the second prospect to pick the Illini. Earlier this spring, #21 Kannon Webster became the first recruit to commit in the class of 2023. Mike Poeta is flexing his recruiting skills early in his new tenure as the top man at Illinois as they're in the very early lead for the top recruiting class in the country.
