Matthew Singleton School List

  • Arizona State
  • Cornell
  • NC State
  • North Carolina
  • Virginia Tech

A handful of excellent schools. No surprise to see the three southeastern schools, an excellent school like Cornell, and a school with teammate ties like ASU. Projected as a 184 pounder in college, Singleton will be a major addition to whichever program he chooses no matter the lineup fit.

Arizona State already has a big foot in the door with Singleton as high school teammate Michael Kilic committed earlier this month. The Sun Devils have national qualifier Trey Munoz, who just beat Singleton twice at UWW Junior Nationals, at 174 for the next four years. So, one of those two would have to fill out at 184.

Not a high school teammate, but club teammate, Chase Horne committed to NC State last year. NC State also just brought in a huge class with some solid upper weight prospects in Jacob Null and Joey Milano.

Not a high school or club teammate, but fellow Georgia standout Caleb Henson committed to Virginia Tech a month ago. Henson and Singleton used to compete against each other until Singleton grew a little bigger. Henson is currently ranked #3 at 152. The Hokies have Mekhi Lewis at 174 and just got Pennsylvania state champion Trey Kibe from the class of 2021 who projects as a 184.

Cornell just brought in 11 recruits from the class of 2021, including #8 at 170 and #33 on the Senior Big Board, Peyton Craft. With Chris Foca at 174/184 for the next couple of years, that could cause some friction.

North Carolina could be the best lineup fit as the Tar Heels try to replace Clay Lautt and Devin Kane at 174/184.

Whether Singleton decides to stay in the southeast or head out west/up north, he will be a great addition to whichever program he chooses. A product of coach Cliff Fretwell at the Compound in Georgia, you can watch him represent Team USA at the Junior World Championships in late August live on FloWrestling.
