Cody Chittum, the #1 recruit in the class of 2023 had decided to head north to join the Golden Gophers of Minnesota. The Cleveland, Tennessee sophomore made his decision known with the following post:

Chittum has been a highly coveted recruit for years. He earned the top spot at 145 lbs this fall at Who's #1 with an 8-5 decision over 2021 Iowa commit Wyatt Henson. He's remained #1 in the land since then and has demonstrated that he's one of the most college-ready prospects in the entire country with his brutal hand fighting and high pace.

Minnesota's 2021 recruiting class is the seventh highest ranked recruiting class in the nation. They're hauling in eight recruits that include five of the top 100 recruits in the country. Chittum will be joining a middle weight group that will add Drew Roberts, Tagen Jamison, Vance Vombaur, and Jagger Eisch this year.

With a top ten recruiting class in the books for 2021 and a verbal commitment from the #1 recruit in the class of 2023, it's safe to say the Gophers are off to an incredible start to the 2023 recruiting battle.
