One of the best pound-for-pound girls in the country is headed to Bristol, TN. Sage Mortimer announced her college decision via Instagram Wednesday afternoon.

Mortimer is currently ranked #1 at 112 lbs in the national girls high school rankings. In 2019 she doubled up and won two Fargo titles. In her first year at Fargo, she won 16U and made the finals of Junior.

More recently Mortimer qualified for the Olympic Trials by tech falling Charlotte Fowler in the finals of the Last Chance Qualifier. Just last weekend Mortimer took third at UWW Junior Nationals and fifth at U23 Nationals.

Mortimer will be an excellent addition to an already tough Tornado lineup. King finished in second place behind McKendree at the 2021 NCWWs. King does return 4th place finisher Melanie Mendoza at 116 lbs, but if Mortimer can successfully get down to 109 lbs she could be a factor immediately next year. That could also give us a rematch of the 2018 Junior Fargo final between Mortimer and Emily Shilson.
