It will be all treat and no trick for wrestling fans on Halloween night when Sammy Brooks and Nate Jackson meet in the first round of 195-lbs 8-man bracket. When the Illinois natives meet on the mat, you can expect two things. An exciting match and plenty of points. Now imagine what it will look like when there's $20,000 on the line. Before they meet again Saturday night, let's take a look back at their wild history.
Both being from the Land of Lincoln, there could have been previous meetings, but we are going to focus on their matchups from college and on. The first of those matchups came in the 2016 Midlands quarterfinals and it was the lowest-scoring match the duo has wrestled to this date with Jackson coming out on top, 3-1.

However, it wouldn't be the first time the two would meet in the tournament. In the third-place bout, the two opened up and it was Sammy Brooks coming away with a 10-5 win.
Just a few months later, they would square off again in the semifinals of the Big Ten Championships where they would combine for 19 points as Brooks would come out on top on his way to winning his second consecutive Big Ten title.

It would be two years before they would meet again and for the second time in their careers, they would meet in the same tournament twice. The first of those two matchups came on the front side at the 2019 U.S. Open in the round of 16 and it was the most one-sided match in the series with Brooks winning by tech fall.

The next day, they would meet again in the consolation semifinals and Jackson was one point away from returning the favor on Brooks. However, Brooks would finally stop Jackson's leg lace and go on to score 20 unanswered points to pick up an incredible come from behind win.

A match like that could never possibly again happen, right? Wrong. Eight months later at Senior Nationals, Nate Jackson would build a 9-0 lead halfway through the first period before Brooks would go on a 20-1 run to win by tech fall, 20-10.
Watch Brooks stun Jackson again with a flurry of points.
Will Jackson get over the hump and score that elusive final point to end the match or will Brooks continue to have Jackson's number? I can't wait to find out on Halloween night live from Austin, Texas. In case you don't know what the bracket looks like, check it out below and join us Saturday night at 8 PM ET.
