Kyonte Hamilton's #1 Heavyweight Ranking On The Line Vs Chase Horne
Kyonte Hamilton's #1 Heavyweight Ranking On The Line Vs Chase Horne
Chase Horne is challenging Kyonte Hamilton for the top high school heavyweight ranking at Who's #1.
For the first time and event history, the top heavyweight spot in the national rankings will be on the line at Who's #1. Rutgers commit Kyonte Hamilton is currently holding it down. Can the challenger from the Peach State, Chase Horne, upset the favorite from Georgetown Prep?
Both wrestlers are newcomers to heavyweight, having competed at 220-pounds the previous season. They've both bumping up, and have earned their positions as the #1 and #2 heavies in the latest national high school rankings.

As with the rest of the WNO competitors, both Hamilton and Horne are top recruits. Kyonte is headed to Rutgers as the #4 prospect on the Class of 2021 Big Board. Hamilton also plans to play football for the Scarlet Knights. Horne is part of a monster class of recruits coming out of Georgia and is slotted at #36 on the Class of 2022.
Neither guy moves like the stereotypical high school upperweight. Kyonte especially is known for his top game and ability to throw legs and ride like a lightweight. It can be rather frightening to behold such a nimble and agile big man in action.
Watch Hamilton win a National Prep Championship in dominant manner in the video below. Kyonte also won the prestigious Beast of the East and Escape the Rock tournaments last season.
Chase Horne is no slouch in the smooth moves department either. He's a savvy edge wrestler who knows how to redirect the substantial amount of mass involved when it comes to wrestling above the two biscuit line.
Watch Horne make the finals of 2019's Super 32 tournament. Chase was also a 2020 Georgia State champ.
The match is in folkstyle so Horne will likely go underneath Hamilton at some point, which could be a decisive sequence in the match. If Hamilton can win the mat-wrestling battle and maintains smart tactics on his feet, he'll likely defend his #1 ranking. We'll find out if Horne can throw a wrench in those plans on October 3!
