North Carolina has added another Olympic medal to their program. Head coach Coleman Scott, who won a bronze in 2012, will be hiring 2004 Olympic Silver Medalist Jamill Kelly as an assistant on his staff.

Kelly who won an Olympic Silver in 2004 in Athens, was most recently a volunteer assistant at Arizona State under Zeke Jones. Prior to that he was the associate head coach at Stanford and coached in North Carolina at NC State from 2012-14. He’ll now be making his return to the ACC to join the rival Tarheels.

Kelly will also be joining a contingent of former Oklahoma State wrestlers that includes head coach Coleman Scott, RTC coach Kenny Monday, volunteer assistant and RTC athlete Jordan Oliver, and Gary Wayne Harding, who competed at Oklahoma State before transferring to North Carolina for his senior season. This group of former Cowboys, along with former Iowa Hawkeye and associate head coach for the Tarheels Tony Ramos, likely have as much or more Olympic hardware than any staff in the country with gold and silver for Kenny Monday, silver for Kelly, and Bronze for Scott.

This announcement comes at the sixteen-year anniversary of Kelly’s silver medal win in Athens in 2004.
