Shayne Van Ness has suffered a broken tibia and will not be able to compete at Who's Number One on October 3. The #1-ranked 138lber in the country will undergo surgery today to have a pin put in to help the broken bone heal. Van Ness, who is #2 on the pound-for-pound list, is still uncommitted in his college choice.

Shayne Van Ness has suffered a broken tibia and will not be able to compete at Who's Number One on October 3. The #1-ranked 138lber in the country will undergo surgery today to have a pin put in to help the broken bone heal. Van Ness, who is #2 on the pound-for-pound list, is still uncommitted in his college choice. 

Shayne was part of a four-man group of 138lbers that was to be contested at this year's WNO. As of right now the second-, third-, and fourth-ranked wrestlers — Joel Vandervere, Jesse Mendez, and Jordan Williams, respectively — will compete in Austin at the event as scheduled and the winner will earn the right to wrestle against Van Ness when he is done convalescing.  

Van Ness won the four-man group in last year's Who's #1, which you can watch below.
