Scrambling & Athleticism

Frank Chamizo is one of if not the most unorthodox wrestler in the world and for most, is a matchup nightmare. However, one of the few wrestlers in the world who can match what Chamizo does is Kyle Dake. Time in and time out, we've seen Dake escape from positions where he looked dead to rights. Never forget the time Dake went full Houdini on Andrew Howe in 2015.

Many times, Dake can turn those exchanges into his points much like he did against Jordan Burroughs in 2017. Dake went from nearly being lifted off the mat by Burroughs to picking the world and Olympic champion off of the mat and scoring four points of his own.

In 2018, Zahid Valencia sat Dake to his butt with a double, and somehow Dake was able to get his legs back without giving up a point.

Chamizo will need to do what pretty much only Jordan Burroughs has been able to do against Dake and finish clean and quickly on if he wants to come out on top Saturday night.

Top Game

Not only does Dake have elite defense and scrambling abilities, but when he gets on top, he's able to end matches with his world-class gut wrench. At the last two World Championships, Dake has scored a staggering 20 points thanks to his gut wrench. Our very own Mike Malinconico did an outstanding job of breaking down why it's so deadly with a little help from two-time Cadet world champion and two-time NCAA champion, Yianni Diakomihalis.

Chamizo is accustomed to opponents attempting to gut wrench him and is quite skilled at stepping over those gut wrench attempts. However, Dake told us he is very confident that Chamizo will not be able to step over one of his gut wrench attempts.

Enjoy the full Dake sit down.

Dake Bombs

Kid Dynamite, Dake Bomb, whatever you want to call him, when he wants to go, Kyle Dake is one of the most explosive wrestlers in the country. Upper body throws, blast doubles, chest wraps, Dake has a multitude of ways he can go feet to back. Good luck climbing out of a 4-0 hole on Dake.

Dake wrestled his fair share of Greco growing up and is very comfortable going upper body like he did in 2017 to Isaiah Martinez.

There are chest wraps, and then there are Kyle Dake chest wraps where he casually picks his opponent off the mat.

Sometimes he just runs through you.

Will Chamizo, who is coming up from 74kg, be able to handle the horsepower and strength of Kyle Dake on July 25th?
