Nebraska high school wrestling has really improved over the recent years, and there's no foreseeable dropoff in the years to come. Below we've identified 10 wrestlers who will be sure to catch many coaches' eyes, hailing from all across Nebraska — from Omaha to Scottsbluff. The list includes a world champion and a wrestler going for his fourth title next year.

Note: all 10 of these guys are either juniors or seniors.

Let's get to business.

1. Conor Knopick

Knopick is a senior at Millard South High school in Omaha. He committed to Iowa State last week over programs such as Nebraska, Ohio State, and Oklahoma among others.

Knopick has been a known name around the state, but last summer, he really took off by earning a spot on the USA Cadet Greco team. He followed that up with a fifth-place finish at Super 32. To top it all off, he knocked off Oklahoma State freshman Jakason Burks in the finals.

Knopick has built a nice resume over the course of his high school career: a two-time UWW All American in Greco, Fargo All-American in Greco twice, and third- and fourth-place finishes in the state tournament the first two years. Knopick comes in at #60 on the 2021 Big Board. Knopick is ranked #17 at 132 pounds.

2. Antrell Taylor

Taylor is a Junior at Millard South High School. He started his high school career off with a bang, making it to the 132-pound finals as a freshman. It was a battle, but ultimately Cornell sophomore Phillip Moomey prevailed, leaving Taylor with a second-place finish.

Over the summer, Taylor made the U15 Freestyle USA team. He finished second at the world championships. He also finished in second at Fargo in freestyle. Last year after missing the first half the season recovering from a football injury, he came back to win the state title at 145 pounds. Taylor is currently #18 on the 2022 Big Board.

3. Tyler Antoniak

Antoniak too will be a Junior at Millard South High School. Antoniak was a state finalist as a freshman. He fell to Northwestern freshman Maxx Mayfield in the finals. Antoniak came back to win the U15 Greco championship and qualify for worlds. He wrestled his best there and became a U15 world champion. Antoniak followed that up with the 138-pound state title this winter.

4. Garrett Grice

Grice has been on a tear since getting into high school. The Bellevue East junior has won state in each of his first two seasons. As a freshman, he won the title at 113 pounds. He won it as a sophomore at 120 pounds. Grice finished in sixth at Fargo in freestyle. He currently sits at #70 on the 2022 Big Board.

5. Evan Canoyer

Canoyer is a dynamic two-sport athlete, earning all-state in football as a junior. He also won his first state title in wrestling as a junior at 170 pounds. Canoyer will be a senior at Waverly High School. He finished fourth as a freshman at 145 pounds. As a sophomore, he fell in the finals to Northern Colorado freshman Damen Pape. Canoyer had a busy offseason, finishing in sixth at Virginia Beach, eighth at UWW in Greco, sixth in freestyle in Fargo, and fourth in Greco at Fargo.

6. Caleb Coyle

After two second-place finishes in his first two years of high school, Coyle finally broke through and got his first state title this winter as a junior at 113 pounds. Coyle enters his senior year at Millard South. He has a bunch of accolades to go along with it. He is a UWW All-American and a three-time Fargo All-American.

7. Dyson Kunz

Kunz got his first state title as a junior after finishing runner-up as a freshman and third as a sophomore. The Central City senior has spent a lot of summer wrestling, earning All-American in freestyle at Fargo, and twice earning All-American at UWW in Greco.

8. Tony Pray

Pray is a senior at Creighton Prep in Omaha and a three-time medalist. He was fourth as a freshman. He finished runner-up at 220 pounds as a junior. Last year as a junior he also avenged his finals loss and won the title at 195 pounds.

9. Paul Garcia

Garcia was in and out of the Flo rankings as a freshman and sophomore. He took last summer off from wrestling and got his pilot license. He has placed in numerous opens across the country and is a three-time state champion going for his fourth at Scottsbluff High School.

10. Keith Smith

Smith will be a junior at Lincoln East. He is coming off his first state title at 106 pounds. He was a Greco All-American at Fargo last summer. He also won Pre Season Nationals and was runner-up at Fall Brawl.
