Michael Kemerer Granted Sixth Year Of Eligibility
Two-time All-American Michael Kemerer will be returning to the Hawkeye lineup next season.
Michael Kemerer will be returning next season. The Hawkeye wrestler announced via Instagram that the NCAA has granted him a sixth year of eligibility.
The two-time All-American did not wrestle the entire 2018-19 season due to injuries. In 2017 Kemerer placed third, and in 2018 Kemerer placed fourth while wrestling at 157 lbs at the NCAA tournament.
This past season Kemerer was a title contender at 174 lbs before the NCAA tournament was canceled. The Murrysville, PA, native was 15-1 while splitting matches with Penn State’s NCAA champion Mark Hall.
With Kemerer back, Iowa wrestling will return nine of its 2019-20 starters and once again be the betting favorite to win the NCAA team title.
