Earlier this week, Oklahoma State head coach John Smith went on the Pistols Firing Podcast with our Oklahoma State contributor Seth Duckworth where he confirmed that two-time All-American Kaid Brock has received a sixth year of eligibility.

Smith said the following to say about Brock.

He will be back next year. He got a sixth year and he will be back. We were going to try and bring him back this year, then after about five months and after his surgery with his knee, he kinda had a setback a little bit and we realized then we needed to hold him out. At one point in time, we had thought about bringing him back out in late January/mid-January and he had a little bit of a setback. Nothing that was serious, but enough that was going you know what we need everyone to fill the full six months and he needed some additional time to heal up. He’s in pretty good shape right now with his knee.

Brock missed all of last season after suffering the second torn ACL of his collegiate career. The Cowboy tore his ACL his true freshman season shortly after having his redshirt pulled and pinning returning NCAA champion, Cody Brewer. Brock received a medical redshirt for that season.

The biggest question will be which weight Brock goes. Recently Seth Duckworth laid out the many lightweight options the Cowboys have in a way too early lineup look. Both times Brock has reached the podium at the NCAA Championships he was at 133. His lone season at 141 he fell in the bloodround to Kyle Shoop of Lock Haven.

Brock won't be the only wrestler in the Oklahoma State lineup next season in their sixth year. Boo Lewallen also received a sixth year after having two seasons cut short due to injury earlier in his career.
